I woke on the right side of the bed
after dropping off last night all wrong.
I don’t know how.
That can’t have been anything me —
it must be you.

I came up breathing clean fresh air
after I’d gone down the third time once too often.
I don’t know what did that.

Can’t be me. I’ve been caught believing
something crazy impossible.
